Why I'm Quitting Soda!

Hey friends!  I wrote a post about quitting sodas for my friend Jaima's blog!  I'd love for you to check it out here:  http://www.ringaroundtherosies.net/2012/08/quitting-soda.html

Here is a little preview:

To start, I have to tell you about my husband. I guess it was about a month into dating, he told me that he used chewing tobacco. While I was thoroughly disgusted, I had already fallen in love with him. I told him that it was fine, but once we had kids, it had to stop. I knew in all honesty, that he’d likely never quit, especially if he really didn’t want to. I am so proud to say that 4 years later, with a two year old at home, my husband finally quit! I have never been so proud! I had been nagging at him since my mom was diagnosed with cancer, and even more after she passed away. I understood the addiction side—I’m addicted to sodas. I always thought that it wasn’t nearly as bad of an addiction, but since my husband quit, I decided to do some research to help convince myself to stop drinking soda.

Now, I LOVE cokes. It’s often one of the first things on my mind when I wake up– I need a fix.  Terrible isn’t it?......

  1. You've done your research, so I'm sure you don't need more facts.. but from a personal standpoint, I feel SOOO much better when I'm only drinking soda! (I go through times that I start drinking a lot of soda, when I start feeling like I need the caffeine, usually when my husband is deployed.) I can usually tell if I'm not well hydrated, and the more water I drink, the better I feel! Two other great benefits: A glass of water when you first wake up boosts your metabolism for the day, and if you drink a glass before a meal you will feel full sooner. :) Good luck!

  2. You have such motivation. I've gone a week without it and at the end of the week I broke down and grabbed that Dr. Pepper to enjoy the crisp feel of it going down my throat. I know if I could quit (or limit it to maybe 1 or 2 a month)I would feel so much better and lose some weight but it is hard. Keep us updated on this progress.

  3. I found your blog on pinterest and have fallen in love. I have been wanting to do some freezer crockpot meals but didn't know where to start. So thank you for your ideas. I just had a couple of questions. Do you ever have problems with freezer burn? And how long do they typically last in the freezer? Thank you so much! Can't wait to get started!
